Le 6 février dernier, Murad Subay, m’a envoyé une photographie du collage qu’il venait de terminer rue Ordener dans le XVIIIème arrondissement de Paris.
Son collage représente une famille composée de trois personnes, une femme sur la droite de l’œuvre, un homme à gauche et au centre un jeune garçon. Les trois personnages figurent une scène : une mère accueille son jeune garçon qui court la rejoindre suivi par son père.
Les fresques de Murad Subay ne laissent personne indifférent. Les médias faute d’une connaissance suffisante de l’artiste le nomment le « Banksy du Yémen ». D’autres le qualifient d’« artiste de rue » et d’ « activiste politique ». Comparaison n’est pas raison. Ce sont des street artistes (et non des artistes de rue ! Traduction par trop littérale) qui créent des images dont les messages sont politiques. Banksy et Subay ne sont ni les premiers, ni les seuls, et le street art politique est une des catégories du street art.

I was invited by the association “Reesah” at the university of Aix-Marseille, to speak about my street art campaign and my engagment in the revolution, War and exhil. Where I highlited the chalanges which Yemenis are facing since the revolution until the ongoing war, which still raging.

It was a pleasure to participate at a conference intitle “Bringing justice and repairing damaged souls: Mental health and psychosocial support in transitional justice”, in the Paris Peace Forum 2022.
The conference is now on the Youtube channel of the Forum.
There are prisons in every country, but for an entire country to turn into a prison, this is catastrophic itself.
The forces of oppression and death conspired against the Yemeni people and their dreams, turning entire country into a prison for more than thirty million Yemenis, who dreamed of a homeland for themselves and their children.
منذ سنوات الحرب دأبت المليشيات على جميع أشكالها وبالأخص مليشيات الحوثي على تغيير المناهج التعليمية في مناطق سيطرتها بما يوائم مع أجنداتها، وبهذا يتعرض الملايين من الأطفال اليمنيين، لعملية غسل للأدمغة في أكبر كارثة يتعرض لها التعليم في تاريخ اليمن.
بهذا أدعو الجميع لحرق الكتب التي تم تكريسها كمناهج خارج نطاق التعليم العام للدولة وأي كتب تم تحريفها في فترة الحرب، كونها تغييرات تعليمية قسريا، وتسهم في تقسيم المجتمع على أساس طائفي مقيت.

During years of the war that still raging, the militias in all their forms, especially the Houthi militia, have been changing the educational curricula in their areas of control in line with their agendas. With this, millions of Yemeni children are subjected to a brainwashing process based on a sectarian aspect in the biggest disaster facing education in the history of Yemen.
With this, I call on everyone to participate in burning the books that were devoted as curricula outside the scope of the general education of the state and any books that were distorted during the war period, as they are forced educational changes, and contribute to the division of society on an abhorrent sectarian basis.

I am pleased to participate by my painting “Half Woman” in an exhibition held at the main entrance of the Headquarter of United Nations, New York. This exhibition organized by “UNICEF, UNFPA”. and will take place from 12th to 28th September 2022.
This three-panel exhibition on the issue of female genital mutilation is part of the Ending FGM campaign, featuring three international artists:
في وقت تلاشت فيه حرية التعبير، وتبددت إمكانية التظاهر السلمي، نشر نشطاء يمنيون على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي صوراً لهم بالأبيض والأسود مقلوبة “رأسا_على _عقب“، ضمن حملة إليكترونية، دعا إليها رسام الغرافيتي مراد سبيع، احتجاجاً على التجويع الممنهج الذي تمارسه بحق المدنيين الأحزاب اليمنية ومليشياتها المستمرة منذ عام 2012 في تقاسم السلطة.
حملة “رأسا_على_عقب” تزامنت مع زيارة الرئيس الأمريكي جو بايدن إلى القدس والسعودية، إلا أن سبيع قال لـ”يمن سايت ” إن رسالة الحملة موجهة إلى المواطنين اليمنيين أنفسهم، وليس لأطراف خارجية. مشيراً إلى أن هدف الحملة توحيد صف المدنيين حول قضية التجويع الممنهج الذي تمارسه أطراف الصراع ومليشياتها.ويعاني أكثر من 19 مليون يمني من الجوع، بينهم أكثر من 160.000 شخص على حافة المجاعة حسبما تقول الأمم المتحدة التي تصنف الأزمة في اليمن بأنها الأسوأ على مستوى العالم، إلا أن المنظمة الأممية التي تقدم نفسها كراعية للسلام العالمي ومنقذ للجياع، تواطأت مع النخب السياسية الفاسدة لتحويل الحوار الوطني إلى حرب مدمرة، حسب دراسة للمؤسسة الدولية للديمقراطية والانتخابات.
خيانة مقدسة
توصف ثورات الربيع العربي بالحركة الشعبية الفريدة من نوعها في تاريخ المنطقة المثخن بالانقلابات العسكرية والغزوات البينية. إلا أن تلك الثورات التي أخذت شكل احتجاجات جماهيرية سلمية غير منظمة، تعرضت للخيانة والسحق في شكل يفوق ما حدث عام 1948، عندما أباح ملك شمال اليمن آنذاك، الإمام أحمد حميد الدين، للقبائل الموالية له، اجتياح مدينة صنعاء ونهبها انتقاماً من معارضيه.
أدعوكم/ن للمشاركة في المظاهرة “رأسا على عقب”, على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، للاحتجاج على الوضع المعيشي والتجويع الذي وصل إليه اليمنيين بسبب أطراف الصراع وميلشياتها، والتي لا زالت مصرة على قطع الرواتب وزيادة في الجرعات والجبايات التي أثقلت كاهل اليمنيين، والتي خلفت بسببها ملايين اليمنيين محولة لهم، لشريحة هائلة من المعوزين والجياع. فضلا عن انعدام الخدمات الصحية الضرورية، التي ألقت بثقلها على حياة الناس وفي مقدمتهم الاطفال.

Dear friends inside and outside Yemen,
I invite you to participate in the “upside down” Campaign, on social media, to protest against the living situation and starvation that Yemenis have reached due to the waring parties of the war and their militias, which are still insisting on cutting salaries and an increase in doses and levies that burdened the Yemenis, and because of which they left Millions of Yemenis have been transformed into a huge segment of the destitute and the hungry.
As well as the lack of necessary health services, which have put their weight on people’s lives, especially children.
To participate in the campaign, you need to take a selfie, upside down, in black and white, and post it on the hashtag.
